Dose ranges (amoxicillin)
- 25 mg/kg/day for mild–moderate infection, 45 mg/kg/day for more serious infection, in 2 doses.
- Up to 70 mg/kg/day may be considered for some infections such as otitis media.
- Under 2 years: no data above 45 mg/kg/day.
- 40 kg and over: use adult tablets.
Key cautions
- Contraindicated in penicillin hypersensitivity or previous co-amoxiclav jaundice or liver dysfunction.
- Not recommended if CrCl < 30 mL/min.
- Take at the start of a meal. Reconstituted suspension: refrigerate and discard after 7 days.
